• Be the coordinator of the team s efforts and design decisions
• Ensure that the team s design efforts come together in the CAD model with no wasted time or overlapping efforts.
• Be the chief manager/creator of the CAD model and personally oversee the packaging of the design. Packaging in this context, is the physical relationship of the all the mating assemblies into the top assembly including hoses and wiring. The package should be optimized for manufacturability, service, operation, visibility for the operator, functionality, safety, and appearance.
• Understand the abilities and limitations of our factory.
• Seek out purchased components that satisfy the requirements, are competitively priced and have lead times that allow for lowest inventory. Avoid single-source components where possible. Recognize when stress analysis is necessary and oversee/perform same.
• Ensure that the BOM s are accurate and in synch.
• Oversee the drafting of the project and ensure that the dimensioning is consistent with the design intent. Ensure that the dimensions are shown from surfaces that actually matter.
• Personally assist with the drafting if necessary to keep the project moving.
• Provide engineering support for all products as required.
• Perform revisions to existing products as required.
• Provide support to Manufacturing as needed .
• Provide support to Sales as needed.
