West Salem, Ohio: American Augers has taken vertical drilling to a whole new level with the introduction of the American Directional Drill branded VR-500 Vertical Drilling Rig. With 500,000 lbs of thrust and pullback force, standard three trailer system, and innovative operation the VR-500 will impress oil and gas drill operators with an emphasis on Speed, Performance, and Safety! 

The VR-500 provides optimum bit load from initial surface contact throughout the entire drilling operation. Operators also have the ability to immediately start a horizontal curve after surface penetration resulting in greater access to shallow formations. American Augers designed the VR-500 on the premise that Greater Penetration Rates = Greater Profits.

The VR-500 showcases American Augers commitment to engineering equipment with maximum Push/Pull Thrust and Rotary Torque (30,000 ft-lbs) for increased working power and reserve capacity. The Best-In-Industry (2) Pinion and Gear Top Head Drive equipped with Adjustable Force & Pull Down Limiter, as well as the 5 ½” API-FH Slip Spindle is rugged and durable yet easy on Pipe Threads. Other Standard Features include dual Caterpillar C-18 Tier III 700 HP (each) Diesel Engines, and Removable Wrenches that are capable of 60,000 ft-lbs of maximum breakout and makeup torque.

The VR-500 eliminates many traditional drilling components, such as cables, winches, tongs, and catheads, which reduces injuries and downtime. Standard Operating Procedures limits the need for crew members to be on the drilling floor, which contributes to improved jobsite safety
